A lot of entrepreneurs come to me because they’re tired of the social media grind.
They’re done chasing trends, dancing for algorithms, and posting every day just to stay visible.
So, they ask the million-dollar question:
“Can I ditch social media and just podcast instead?”
It’s a great question — and the answer is yes… but also no.
Let me explain.
You Can Podcast Instead of Doing Social Media…But Should You?
Your podcast can absolutely replace social media as your main content engine.
It can attract clients, boost your SEO, build authority, and showcase your expertise, all while being way more fun than endless scrolling.
But if you’re trying to grow your show (and your business) in total isolation, you’re clipping your podcast’s wings.
Social media is the megaphone for your podcast. It helps more people hear what you’re saying.
Podcasting and social media together form what I call your podcast marketing ecosystem.
What is a Podcast Marketing Ecosystem?
Think of your podcast as the main tree in the forest, and social media are all the little seeds from that tree that fly through the air and land everywhere!
Your podcast is your main piece of content; social media expands its reach.
When these two work together, your marketing becomes a well-oiled machine.
Add in email marketing. It’s another version of those prolific seeds serving to spread your podcast and social media messages. They each play a role in the podcast marketing ecosystem.
How Can Your Podcast Feed Social Media?
If you hate social media, here’s the good news:
Your podcast actually makes your social media a hundred times easier.
Why? Because you’re not starting from scratch. You’re repurposing what you already said on your show.
Every episode easily becomes multiple social media posts. Here’s how.
Your 5-Post Plan: Turn One Episode Into a Week of Content
- The Teaser Post – Build anticipation. Share what this week’s episode is about and why it matters.
- The Drop Post – Announce when the episode goes live. Hook them with your biggest takeaway.
- The Engagement Post – Ask a question from your topic to spark conversation.
- The Snippet or Reel – Pull a juicy audio or video moment and post it as a clip on Facebook and Instagram reels and stories, YouTube shorts, or even in your LinkedIn feed.
- The Carousel or Quote Graphic – Share a short teaching point from the episode in a visual format.
That’s five pieces of social media content from one podcast episode.
No stress. No dancing. No trend-hopping.
Apply the Same Rhythm to Your Podcast’s Email Marketing
If you have a newsletter, create a similar flow for your podcast email marketing.
Pre-tease your episode, share it on launch day, then follow up with a reflection or community question a few days later.
You’re multiplying the impact of one piece of content across multiple channels instead of adding the stress of having to come up with fresh new content all week long.
Strategic Reasons Social Media Still Matters for Podcasters
If you’re still tempted to ditch it completely, let’s talk about what you’d lose.
- Advertising: Social media collects the data you need to retarget podcast listeners and website visitors.
- Authority: Listeners and potential clients check your social feeds for proof that you’re active, credible, and legit.
- Guesting: Influential guests look at your social media to gauge whether being on your show benefits them.
- Visibility: Social media platforms make it easier to get booked on other podcasts (the “OPP Strategy” I talk about in episode 218).
If you’re starting to get pissy about having to keep up with social media when you really thought you were going to get out of it with a podcast… Remember, you don’t have to be on every platform, and you don’t have to play the algorithm game.
But you do need to show up somewhere.
Pick the platform where your ideal listener (aka your potential client) hangs out.
Keep it simple. Use your podcast as the fuel.
Podcasting and Social Media Work Best Together
Podcasting and social media can be partners, not rivals.
Your podcast builds depth, trust, and authority.
Social media builds reach, proof, and amplification.
Together, they’ll help you grow your visibility, credibility, and revenue faster.
And I hope that’s just the tip you need.
If you’re realizing your podcast ecosystem could use a little tuning, let’s talk.
