Is it easy for a listener to go from your podcast to your offer?
How many clicks does it take to book a call? Are your show notes, links, and CTAs doing their job?

The Podcast Treasure Hunt I Didn’t Want to Be On
I recently sampled a new podcast and wanted to learn about their services. I checked the show’s description in Apple Podcasts and found no link. I Googled them. I was served the Apple page again. I opened an episode and only found social links and an “Episode Website.” I clicked on that and landed on their host’s default page with the same description. After scrolling forever, I finally found their website link.
Confession: I only kept going because I knew it was turning into content gold. A real prospect would have bailed two clicks earlier. I’m not going on a treasure hunt to give you money.
If the path from your podcast to your offer isn’t clear and quick, you’re losing potential clients. Full stop.
What Is a “Podcast Profit Path” (and How it Helps Your Podcast Convert Better)
Your podcast profit path is the shortest, most obvious route from a listener’s curiosity to conversion, AKA your next step (book a call, download a lead magnet, buy, apply). Every extra click along the path is friction. Busy listeners won’t fight their way down your funnel.
The Goal? Satisfaction in one click, maybe two.
Here are my top tips to create a podcast path that leads to profits:
Show Description: Prime Real Estate for Your Primary Link
Your show description lives everywhere your podcast lives. Optimize it.
- Add a direct URL to your most important next step (website offer page or lead magnet).
- Put the link at the very top or very bottom—I don’t care where, just PUT IT IN.
- Some apps won’t hyperlink, but visibility still matters.
Episode Show Notes: Link to the Exact Next Step You Mentioned in the Episode
Every episode’s notes should feature a single, primary link that matches your call-to-action in that episode.
- Link directly to the offer page (not your homepage).
- Place it above any socials or secondary links. Definitely not jumble up with other links
- Label it clearly: “Book a free coaching call → [your CTA URL].”
- Mention where to find it in the CTA (“link is at the top of the show notes”).
In-Episode CTA: Tell Them What, Why, and How
Don’t mumble your CTA. Say it like a pro:
- What to do: “Book a free coaching call.”
- Why to do it: “Get your podcast path fixed so it converts.”
- How to do it: “Go to PodcastPerformanceCoach.com and hit the big orange button—or tap the link at the top of these show notes.”
- Repeat consistently. Repetition is key for your listener to feel invited and empowered.

Link Hygiene: Test and Update (Redirects Are Your Friend)
Broken or outdated links kill funnels.
- Audit links monthly.
- If your offer URL changes, replace or redirect old links so there are no podcast profit path dead ends.
- Make sure your podcast host’s “episode website” points to your site, not a half-set-up default page.
Can You Have Multiple Paths?
Yes, but don’t turn them into a maze or overwhelm them with too many links.
- Keep one primary path per episode (the offer you mentioned or the one with the most contextual link to the topic of the episode).
- Secondary paths (e.g., lead magnet vs. call) should live below the primary link.
- All roads should start from your podcast and lead to a clear, specific page.
Quick Audit: Walk Your Podcast Path Like a Listener
- Can you get from Apple/Spotify to the exact offer page in 1–2 clicks?
- Is the link visible at the top of the episode notes?
- Does your show description include your primary URL?
If not, fix it today. A confusing podcast profit path costs you clients.
